96X

Since 1993, 96X has been the independent heartbeat of Hampton Roads.
Locally owned and unapologetically loud, 96X isn’t just a frequency—it’s a fixture of the 757. For over 30 years, we have served as the region’s premier destination for Modern Rock and Alternative, breaking the biggest bands in the world while staying true to the grunge and punk roots that started it all.
Unlike the cookie-cutter playlists of corporate radio, 96X is programmed right here in Norfolk. We pride ourselves on a “music-first” philosophy that champions new artists, celebrates alternative classics, and supports the local scene. From presenting the biggest concerts in the 757 to specialty programming like The Hangover Brunch and The Punk Show, we provide a listening experience that is as diverse and dynamic as our community.
We are 96X: Independent. Local. Alternative.
