Leslie Mosier

Music, in both creation and performance, is obviously a deep passion for seventeen-year-old singer/songwriter Leslie Mosier. She started piano lessons at age four, began playing flute in the fourth grade, and rapidly exhibited great musical skill and a love for being on stage. Although her piano and flute studies concentrated on a classical repertoire, Leslie’s true interests leaned more toward pop-rock. Attending rock concerts and seeing other young performers on stage made Leslie eager to expand her musical horizons, so for her thirteenth birthday she asked for and received an acoustic guitar. Exhibiting incredible music creativity and gifted with perfect pitch and a MacBook Pro, Leslie began crafting songs on her own in high school. She finally shared one of her songs with a friend, the extremely talented artist Dave Melillo (Nocturnal Me, Cute is What We Aim For), who put her in contact with his awesome producer/engineer, Mike Brylinski (Goo Goo Dolls, Cute is What We Aim For) and an EP was born.

“Single Moment,” Leslie’s debut EP release, has four songs written and sung by herself and a duet written by and performed with Dave Melillo. Backed up by Jeff Czum on guitar and the very talented Mikey Lasaponara on drums, Leslie’s songs display the feelings of a typical teenager dealing with everyday situations. “Single Moment” is about wanting that one moment when the person you love begins to love you back. “Straight to You” deals with telling someone the way you feel about them. The up-beat, catchy “Change” tells us to embrace change as it’s bound to come anyway. “Harmony to Me” uses the language of music to describe feelings for another. In the duet, “Butterfly”, Leslie’s harmonies highlight Dave’s beautifully crafted melody and lyrics. Although Leslie is only 17, her EP displays the musical experience of someone much older. Her honest, engaging lyrics and catchy tunes result in songs that you’ll find yourself singing in your head long after you’ve listened to them. “Single Moment” is an incredible debut from a very incredible singer/writer who’s obviously going far.

Bimini Road

Bimini Rd. is the convergence of new and old transmitted by the hearts and souls of Mike Fischetti, Travis Mansell, Aaron Kuklica, Adam Watts, and Tyler Slawson. These veteran musicians have united to create what pop radio lacked; they created music, which touches people’s hearts and inspires. While their ultimate goal is to write the best music they know how, the side effect is the best music to come out of Hampton Roads in years. Bimini Rd. is the most promising up and coming band; they will be touring regionally and locally throughout 2010 in support of their debut album release, “Walkabouts.” This album produced by Bimini Rd. and Mark Padgett of Mae is full of great tracks that will make you want to move and think. To check tour dates and find out the latest check them out at http://www.myspace.com/biminird or type Bimini Rd. into the search icon on http://www.cdbaby.com to purchase and review songs that are not on myspace.

Honour Crest

While the band has been in existence for a few years, the original lineup went through some changes and Honour Crest (as they currently stand) really only got started in January of this year. Their music is aptly self-described as “fast paced beats and an electronica-hardcore hybrid” and has developed quite a following in such a relatively short period of time. The low and steady rhythm of vocals/growls, accompanied by impeccable guitar riffs, are a perfect contrast to electronic samplings and melodic backing vocals and lead to a strong, cohesive sound. When asked about what fuels them when writing music they said, “Relationships are probably one of our biggest influences. From those in the past to all those that we have today.”Honour Crest has found their niche in their hometown scene with their unique musical stylings and, while most bands are covering pop songs, these guys are evoking just the right mix of nostalgia by putting their own spin on theme songs from Inspector Gadget and Power Rangers. It’s just this kind of creativity and fun that lend to their mass appeal and fan loyalty. Sharing the stage with Sky Eats Airplane, Confide, Agraceful, In Fear and Faith, The Word Alive, and many more. Check out there music at http://www.myspace.com/honourcrest

Cicero

Cicero has been established on the main principal that the first and foremost job of a musician is to play music. There is no point in complaining on what has already happened with digital music and new business models, the guys in Cicero would like to look to the future. They pride themselves in worrying about what they truly love doing, creating art.

A new refreshing chapter of music has started. Cicero’s sound speaks for itself, with their debut CD “Fighting Ghosts,” boundaries of “genre” and “style” have been broken. The technical guitar work on the album complimented by duel harmonies and catchy vocals, take the listener on an experience that has never happened before. Fans get lost in the songs, as Cicero paints a picture using specific sounds to convey emotion and feeling on every song on the album.

Cicero realizes who they are, four guys from Virginia Beach who love writing and performing music.

Cicero is:

AJ Fard – Vocals/guitar
Tayoh Valdez – Bass
Tavish Valdez - Drums

Chasing Corona

Lead singer, Cole Childers, and lead guitarist, Brian Farley met in 2005 while deployed overseas in Aqaba, Jordon during a night of “Battle of Ship’s Bands.” The next morning the two ships, USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Brian’s ship, and USS Ashland (LSD 48), Cole’s ship, came under terrorist attack. Upon completion of their deployment Cole and Brian decided to form a band, but trying to find a name for that band just seemed to escape them. One night after Cole’s puppy “Corona” had once again escaped from his house, a close friend looked at Cole and said “You are always chasing corona!”. After relating the story and the statement to Brian the band’s name was born. After trying out several talented drummers Chasing Corona welcomed Johnny Tatum, and then welcomed bass player Kevin Palos into the band in May of 2008.

Lead vocalist Cole Childers credits such influences as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, and Alter Bridge's Miles Kennedy, to name a few. He realized his ear for music when his brother gave him his first guitar at seventeen. Growing up in Seattle during the high point of the city's booming music scene only further increased his appreciation for music. Since then, he has worked on song writing and pushing his limits vocally.

Lead guitarist Brian Farley began playing guitar at fifteen after listening to influences such as Slash and Eddie Van Halen. Later his style change by guitarists such as Mark Tremonti and Ben Burnley. Brian moved north of Seattle at age nineteen and with very little formal training, he played guitar and bass with several bands, including one with drummer Johnny Tatum, in the Washington State area where he started to find himself musically. In 2003, he relocated to Virginia Beach, VA and 2 years later met up with Cole eventually forming Chasing Corona.

Diversity, dynamics, syncopation, and complex rhythmic patterns are among drummer Johnny Tatum’s favorite methods of delivering his own style of percussion. Fortunate enough to have played with several successful Seattle area bands and career musicians, he dreams of spreading his message through music. Some of his many influences include but are not limited to: Beethoven, Mozart, Buddy Rich, Tool, The Mars Volta, Soundgarden, Mudvayne, Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Primus, and many more.

Bassist Kevin Palos is a Chesapeake, VA native who began exploring his musical talents at an early age. With influences that include Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine he acquired a strong passion for bass guitar. He developed his style and skills by playing in various local bands and eventually found his way to the rhythm section of Chasing Corona.

The Band’s debut album “Blackeye and Candlelight” was released in May of 2008 and they are currently working on material for their next album.
